lmao but why are the captions in chinese if she tryna appropriate japanese culture tho
like i can’t believe i forgot about this but the parent of a “friend” of mine in high school would call me Hop Sing…?
this motherfucker here in blue? Like i’m not even mad at my friend, I’m mad that a grown-ass adult would call their child’s friend a name of a character based on a gross stereotype of Asian men?
my friend's mom knows im korean but we went out to a sushi restaurant (my friend, her parents and i) and she asked me, "in your culture, do your people eat sushi?" and i said "no we don't" and she said "oh so it's just the Japanese?"........ she knows im korean, she knows sushi is japanese, she knows im not japanese.... and yet. and yet. she's a lovely woman and i love her dearly but she pulls this stuff a lot :/
I’ve experienced alot of that myself, white people who know you ethnicity and yet continue to group all Asians together. *long breath out* so annoying.
During my sociology test yesterday my professor [a Black woman] didn’t think people would notice she capitalized the first letter of each race except white but I did because I do the same thing. I’m at my desk likeee
yay for ignorance
weird how white people will say how bad rap music is but the second a white artist get’s big i.e iggy azalea, eminem, macklemore, their rap is “real music” …interesting
And it suddenly has “a message”
Lol we all know why that is.
repeat after me:
1. our immigrant families are not just ‘homophobic’ they are also ‘colonized.’
2. our parents have histories, genders, and sexualities, too.
3. they are just as broken as we are (but we have the words — i mean the english — to say it)
4. the diaspora responds to racism with heteronormativity
5. trauma seeps through generations
